Summary
- PureFlight has no user account, and we have no access to your app data. What you enter in the app is stored on your device and – if you turn on data backup – in your own iCloud or a folder of your choice. It only leaves the device through data backup, exports, sharing or error reports that you turn on or trigger yourself.
- We receive no data about you or your students from the app – unless you send us an error report yourself (see Error reports).
- The app contains no ads, no analytics or tracking tools and no third-party software.
- For weather, place names and the On-Course aerial images, the app queries public internet services. Coordinates or search terms are sent to them (details below).
- Otherwise data only leaves the device when you share or save a PDF report, a backup or a video yourself, or when you turn on automatic backup to a cloud folder of your choice.
- Before the app stores data about a student, you obtain their consent with a signature – for minors, that of their parents or guardians.

Full details in the imprint. We process personal data under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Important for coaches and academies: you enter and store your students' data on your own device. For this data, you as the coach or academy are the controller under the FADP and the GDPR. We have no access to it: there is no user account and no tracking.
Data you enter in the app
PureFlight stores all of the following data locally, in the app's storage on your iPad or iPhone.
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Student profile | First and last name, photo, playing hand, year of birth, men's/women's comparison, phone, email, home club, focus, notes, lesson credits, handicap with history and target |
| Golf bag | Clubs with make, model, shaft, flex, loft, lie, length and weight |
| Body profile | Height, wrist-to-floor measurement, glove size, dominant eye, writing hand, core zone and health-related information: back or hip limitations, limited rotation, knee, hip or foot problems |
| Motor preferences | Observations such as stance leg, trunk, arms and cadence |
| Training | Shots with measured values, sessions, coaching lessons, skill test results, putts, session feedback with photos and whiteboard sketches |
| Coach / academy profile | Academy name, name, title, phone, email, website, address, logo (shown in the app and the PDF report) |
| On-Course | Saved golf courses with aerial image and placed tees and greens; the shots of a round are saved to the student |
| Settings | Language, unit, selected launch monitor, the last local network address of the launch monitor, a location chosen by hand for the weather |
| Consent | Signature of the student or of the parent or guardian, name, role, date and time, version of the signed text, history of consent and withdrawal |
| Swing profile | The coach's measurements and observations of movement and swing (e.g. upper and lower arm, swing planes, release) and the interpretation derived from them |
| Lessons | Booked and used lessons with date, optionally package and price |
| Course data | Imported statistics from a shot-tracking system, home course, rounds played |
| Videos | Swing videos, drawings and markers such as the swing centre |
The body profile contains health-related information (back, joints). This is sensitive personal data. It is stored only locally on the coach's device and is only passed on when you share a PDF report or a backup yourself or turn on backup to your cloud folder. The app only stores it once the student's signed consent is in place, for minors that of their parents or guardians. All fields are optional.
Depending on your iOS settings, your device includes the app data in its iCloud or computer backup. That backup is created and managed by Apple or your computer, not by PureFlight.
Permissions and what the app uses them for
iOS asks you before first use. You can change each permission later in the iOS Settings under PureFlight.
Location (while using the app)
For weather-normalised ball flight. The app determines your position and uses it to request temperature, air pressure and humidity from Open-Meteo. Apple derives the place name from the position. The position is not stored with shots or students. You can also pick the location by hand; the app then stores that place locally. Without location access the app uses standard conditions.
Local network
To connect to your launch monitor (Foresight GCQuad, TrackMan 4 or TrackMan 3e) on the Wi-Fi your device is on. Shot data stays in your local network; the app sends no data to the internet in doing so. You can turn the automatic connection off under “Devices & Connection”.
Bluetooth
When you open “Devices & Connection”, the app may scan for nearby Bluetooth devices and list them with name and signal strength so you can recognise your launch monitor. The list is not stored.
Camera and microphone
To record swing videos and photos for feedback. Sound is recorded with the video and used locally to detect the moment of impact. Skeleton detection runs on the device.
Photos
You pick videos and images through the system picker; the app only sees what you select. The app saves to your photo library only when you tap save.
Internet services the app queries
Each service technically receives your device's IP address with every request. The services may process data outside Switzerland. Without an internet connection the following functions do not work; measuring on the local Wi-Fi does.
| Purpose | Service | Data sent | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weather | Open-Meteo | Coordinates (latitude and longitude) | At launch, every 15 minutes while in use and when you return to the app |
| Place name, place search, aerial image outside Switzerland | Apple Maps and location services | Position, search text or the map area of the course | After a location fix, during place search, when a course loads |
| Course search and boundaries (On-Course) | OpenStreetMap Nominatim | Search text, course identifier | When you search for or load a course |
| Course boundaries and data (On-Course) | Overpass API (overpass.kumi.systems, overpass-api.de, overpass.private.coffee) | Coordinates of the golf course | When a course loads |
| Aerial image Switzerland (On-Course) | swisstopo (Swiss Federal Office of Topography) | Map area of the golf course | Once per course, then stored locally |
With OpenStreetMap Nominatim and Overpass, the app identifies itself as “PureFlight” with our contact address, as these services require; with swisstopo only as “PureFlight”. It contains no data about you or your students. Course search and boundaries: © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL).
Purchase and subscription
You buy subscriptions and lifetime purchases (PureFlight Amateur, Pro and Academy) through the App Store. Apple handles payment, invoicing and renewal. We receive no payment or account data. The app checks the subscription status on the device through Apple's interface (StoreKit). Apple's privacy policy applies. Use of the app is governed by Apple's standard Terms of Use (EULA) and, in addition, by our Terms of Use.
Sharing, export and backup
This data only leaves the device on your command. You choose the recipient and the location, for example Mail, Messages, iCloud Drive or another provider in the Files app.
- PDF report: contains student and measurement data, feedback with images, notes from the body profile (including health limitations), motor preferences and your academy profile.
- Backup file: “Save backup to Files” puts all student data, putts, feedback with images and your academy profile in a file you save in the Files app. The “Quick backup on this device” stays on the device.
- Videos: you can share analysed videos and snapshots or save them to your photo library.
- Diagnostic logs for the launch monitor connection, if you share them.
Data you pass on to other services is subject to their privacy policies.
Data backup to your iCloud or a folder
If you wish, PureFlight backs up all app data automatically. If your device is signed in to iCloud, the backup can be stored in PureFlight's area of your own iCloud. Alternatively you choose a folder in the Files app, for example in iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox or “On My iPad/iPhone”. That way your devices have the same data. For this the app writes the file “PureFlight-Daten.pfbackup” (and one previous version) and reads it back; it does not access any other files. Videos are not part of the backup.
Diagnostic logs: Next to the backup the app creates the folder “PureFlight-Diagnose”. It only contains technical data the app already has on the device: crash and hang diagnostics from iOS (MetricKit), the name-scrubbed trail of the last steps in the app and a crash marker – at most 30 days and 5 MB per device. These files stay where you store them; we only receive them if you send them to us yourself.
The files are stored in your iCloud or with the provider you chose, and that provider's privacy policy applies. We have no access to them. You can disconnect at any time under Settings › Data backup.
Student consent
Before the app stores measurement and shot data, photos, videos, body or health information about a student, you as the coach obtain their consent: with a signature on the device, for minors from their parents or guardians. The app records the name, role, date and time and the version of the signed text, and on request creates a PDF as proof. Without consent it stores only the student's name and contact details.
The consent also covers passing data to the app support in the event of an error, limited to the data concerned. It can be withdrawn at any time. For each student there are “Export data” and “Delete student completely”.
Error reports to support
If the app crashes or you report a problem under Settings › Subscription & Legal, PureFlight compiles an error report. Before sending you see the email text and the list of attachments. Only when you tap “Send” does the app transmit the report, encrypted (HTTPS), to our mail service at api.pureflight.golf, which sends it through the Cloudflare Email Service (Cloudflare, Inc., USA) to support@pureflight.golf. The service checks size and recipient, limits the frequency per device and stores no report contents; Cloudflare technically processes the IP address and the message in the process. Without a network the report stays on the device until you are online again. Alternatively you can send it with your mail app, share it or copy it as text. The same applies to report PDFs you send to a student with “By email” in the app: the app sends them directly to the address you confirm (sender PureFlight on behalf of your academy, replies to your profile email, optionally a copy to you).
Compiled automatically
- report ID, occasion (problem reported or after a crash), date, time and time zone
- app version, iOS version, device model and type, language, unit, selected launch monitor, connection status, demo mode, free storage and whether a data backup is connected
- the current page and the last steps in the app with times (technical codes such as page changes, opened windows, received shots)
- counts: students, shots, live shots, putts and coaching sessions
- any crash and hang diagnostics from iOS (MetricKit)
- if TrackMan or GCQuad is connected directly: the technical connection log of that launch monitor, including measured values of individual shots, without names
- your name and email from your coach profile – included by default, can be switched off before sending
In the steps, the connection log and your description, the app automatically replaces recognised student names, email addresses, phone numbers and file paths. About students, the automatically compiled information contains only counts.
Added voluntarily by you
- your description
- a screenshot – only if you tap “Attach screenshot”. It shows the screen behind the report window and may contain names or photos.
- “Data for this issue” – only if the student's consent covers passing data to the support and you turn on “Attach data for this issue”: the student's name and playing hand, the last 5 shots with raw values, launch monitor, units and the state of the module. This file never contains photos, videos, health or screening information, contact details or the rest of the profile.
Do not include student photos, videos, health information or unnecessary identifying data in error reports. Check optional screenshots, descriptions and attachments before sending and redact or remove anything that is not needed. The automatic name removal only covers text, not images.
Receipt, service providers and retention
The address support@pureflight.golf is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing, and sending from the app runs through the Cloudflare Email Service (both Cloudflare, Inc., USA), to our Gmail mailbox (Google Ireland Ltd., Ireland; processing also by Google LLC in the USA). The transfer to the USA is based on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. We use error reports only to find and fix errors. For your own details in the report (name, email, description) we are the controller; your students' data we process on your behalf under the data processing terms.
We delete error reports once the fix is complete, at the latest 12 months after the report was received. This applies to resolved and abandoned cases and also to attachments and downloaded copies. In backups the data is deleted at the latest when the backup cycle expires.
No analytics, no tracking, no ads
PureFlight contains no third-party analytics or advertising software, uses no advertising identifier and does not track you across other apps or websites. If you have turned on “Share With App Developers” in iOS, Apple provides us with anonymised crash reports and usage statistics. You control this under Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements. The app collects crash data only through Apple's MetricKit on the device; it only leaves the device in the diagnostics folder of your own backup or in an error report that you send yourself.
Retention and deletion
The data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual students, shots, putts, feedback items and golf courses. With “Export data” you first get all of a student's data in one file.
“Delete student completely” removes the student from this device with profile and photo, sessions and shots, putts, feedback including images, coaching sessions, skill tests, assessment, course data, notes and the consent, and keeps a deletion note with date, time and initials. Earlier backups, quick backups, temporary backup files, PDF reports and exports of this student on the device are rewritten without the student or removed; the app then rewrites the data backup in the cloud folder, if one is connected. Not covered are: the older backup file in the cloud folder (until it is overwritten at the next backup or you delete it there), error reports already sent, exports, PDF reports and other files you have shared or saved outside the app, and videos saved to the photo library – PureFlight does not store videos with the student. Delete these copies where they are stored; to have data from error reports deleted, write to support@pureflight.golf.
“Delete all data” in Settings removes all students, measurements, putts, feedback, quick backups and settings on the device. Videos, PDF reports and diagnostic logs are only stored temporarily; iOS clears these files itself. When you uninstall the app, iOS removes all app data from the device. Delete backups and shared files where you saved them. Cancel an active subscription separately in your device's subscription settings.
Data security
The data lives in the app's isolated storage. The app uses the iOS default protection: with a passcode set, the files are encrypted until the device is unlocked for the first time after a restart. Set a passcode if you store student data.
This website (pureflight.golf)
The website sets no cookies for visitors, uses no analytics or tracking tools and loads no fonts or scripts from third-party servers. It is delivered through Cloudflare, Inc., which processes technically necessary data (IP address, date and time, requested page, browser) to deliver the website and protect it from attacks; Cloudflare may process this data in the USA.
For simple statistics we count page views anonymously: per day only the requested page, the referring website, the country (derived by Cloudflare) and the device type (phone, tablet, desktop). We store no IP addresses, cookies or identifiers for this; individual visitors cannot be identified.
If you email us, we use your details only to answer your request.
Business contact
We occasionally write to golf facilities and indoor studios in Switzerland at their publicly listed business address to introduce PureFlight. For this we store the company name, location, publicly listed contact details (email, phone, website), the source and the sending history. Every message contains an unsubscribe link; after unsubscribing, the address is put on a block list and receives no further messages. Objection and access requests at any time to support@pureflight.golf.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Apart from error reports you send us yourself (“Send” button in the app), we receive no data from the app; you manage the app data directly on your device, including export and deletion per student. Students contact their coach or academy. For questions about PureFlight or emails to us, write to support@pureflight.golf.
You can lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the EU, with the data protection authority of your country of residence.
Changes
If the app or these pages change, we update this policy. The version published here applies.
